The East Bay Energy Watch is a collaboration between Pacific Gas and Electric Company and local governments, non-profit and for-profit energy service providers in the East Bay dedicated to providing innovative energy efficiency solutions for residents and businesses in communities throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

The Building Energy Connection Program (BEC)

The Building Energy Connection (BEC) program is an innovative offering for commercial customers within Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. PG&E customers are eligible for a free comprehensive energy audit of their facility. Following the assessment, BEC staff is available as a single point of contact to access a wide variety of free services designed to save you money on your utility bill.

The Business Energy Services Team (BEST)

The BEST Program, administered by KEMA, is designed to promote energy efficiency in small businesses. The primary focus of this program is to maximize the implementation of cost-effective, high-efficiency lighting technologies, while also addressing some HVAC, refrigeration, and customized technologies. The program offers services to help small businesses reduce energy usage and lower their energy costs. The BEST staff will evaluate your business' energy use, provide a customized analysis of your facility, and install high-quality energy-saving equipment.

Smart Lights

Smart Lights is specially designed to help small businesses become more energy-efficient. The program offers free start-to-finish technical assistance and instant rebates to help defray the cost of upgrading and/or repairing existing equipment. Smart Lights can help with comprehensive lighting retrofits, refrigeration tune-ups, controls, and seals replacement, replacing domestic hot water heaters, and referrals to appropriate HVAC programs.

MUNICIPAL PROGRAMS

MIT

The Municipal Implementation Team (MIT) Program specializes in municipal building energy efficiency audits and implementation. The program provides free energy assessments of municipal buildings, implementation assistance of recommended energy efficiency measures, and financial incentives to PG&E municipal customers in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Municipal Benchmarking

Free turnkey technical assistance is available through EBEW for benchmarking municipal buildings in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties using the EPA Portfolio Manager. EBEW staff is available to meet with you to identify and gather all necessary building and utility information and input the information into the EPA Portfolio Manager. At the end of the process you'll have access to all of your building's historical energy use along with a ranked list to help identify what buildings are good candidates for energy efficiency improvements.
